Camp Ramah Darom
Hello, my name is Zach, and Camp Ramah Darom, or Tumbling Waters as it is commonly referred to, is an experience I will never forget. It was a place where new friendships were made, and even a place where people who weren't friends with each other, could bond. Camp was a place where you could learn and have fun at the same time. It was the perfect place where you can enjoy the beauty of nature.
Ever since I first heard about the sixth grade trip, I recall that it was about during fourth grade when I did, I started to dream about what camp would be like. Not a day would pass when I would see a sixth grader walking down the hall and would wildly anticipate the day when we would go to Tumbling Waters. Then, a year or so into the future, that day finally came, and I couldn’t stop imagining. The next thing I know, and I’m loading my bags onto a motor coach in front of the Lower School, its destination, Camp Tumbling Waters.
That morning was probably one of the most exciting mornings of my life, and it probably was for many of my peers as well. Excitement hung so heavy in the air that you could almost cut with scissors. It seemed as if in a blink of an eye, we were on our way to camp.
Let me just say that when I first laid eyes on the tree covered acres that were Camp Tumbling Waters, I was in a state of awe. The scenery was even better than I had imagined it to be. We got off and went to our cabins, where we met our bunk mates, and set off on our first day at camp.
The amazing thing about that experience was that everything that I did, all of the activities, all of the people I met, and all of the scenery, I still vividly remember. If I went back there, I could still make my way to exactly where my cabin was. Those are the kind of memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life, and that is why Camp Ramah Darom was a truly unforgettable experience.
