Super Bowl 51 is the BIGGEST football game of the year. It can be very complicated. Here are some of the basics of the game. Every year, the Super bowl is the main goal for every team.
There are 16 games in a season and then playoffs. In order to get into the playoffs you have to win your division.
The NFC and the AFC each have four divisions. AFC: AFC North, AFC East, AFC South, AFC West. NFC: NFC North, NFC East, NFC South, NFC West.
The number 1 and 2 seeds for the AFC and the NFC each get a bye. A bye is when you get to skip playing for a week and in the playoffs it means you are one spot closer to the Super Bowl.
If you are not number 1 or 2 seeded it means you have to play a wild card game and if you win you play in the divisional round. If you lose in any of the playoff games then you are disqualified and you have to wait until next season for another chance. If you win the division round you go to the AFC/NFC Championship.
The winning team of the AFC/NFC Championship goes to the Super Bowl. This year, the two teams to make it to the Super Bowl are the New England Patriots and our hometown team, The Atlanta Falcons.
