Songs To Listen To Right Now

By Maya P.

1. Confident - Demi Lovato
This song is alright. I feel Demi could’ve used more diversity in her lyrics and beats. Though I can’t deny this song can give you a boost of confidence (pun intended).

2. Born to Lose - Sean Cross, Swizz Beatz, Jussie Smollett, And Yazz
I’m biased towards this song due to the fact that it is from the soundtrack of Empire, which is my favorite show. I like that it has different artist who perform different styles of music. I suppose you could say the song is diverse. Also it deals with real problems in the world like the recent police shootings.

3. One Man Can Change The World - Big Sean, Kanye West, and John Legend
imgres-1.jpgI love this song and I can tell why it won a VMA. “One Man Can Change The World" tells a story and I feel that in this day and age most songs don’t do that. I want to be enthralled in the music I listen to. This song does that for me.

4. Paint It, Black - Ciara
This song is “different” for Cece. It’s a lot darker than most of her songs so if you’re into that you might like this. I’m not familiar with the movie that this song was written for but I’m sure it's great. Basically this song is about painting the world black and getting rid of color. Like I said it's kind of dark.

5. Hold Me Up - Conrad Sewell
To be honest when writing this I just went through YouTube and Spotify looking for songs that weren’t too mainstream. While shuffling through various songs I found this song and I really like it. This song has different beats and sounds to it coming together for a harmonic melody.

6.  Fireflies - Zendaya
Zendaya is a triple threat as an actress, dancer, and singer! This track from 2013 only shows 1 of those skills, but boy does it represent. Her passion and heat makes for a fiery song.

7. Babylon - SZA
This song is so deep I really don’t know what it’s about. I like the light airiness of her voice and the smoothness of the beat. You can almost feel the eeriness dripping from her words. It’s something you have to listen to to understand.
8. Runnin’ (Lose It All) - Naughty Boy, Beyonce, and Arrow Benjamin
Beyonce is amazing. Her voice is so beautiful in this song. The song is about losing yourself and running from yourself. I think we all run from something at some time or another and often it tends to be ourselves or our problems.
